In the summer of 2005 as part of my training at Maine Maritime Academy I served as a cadet aboard a commercial vessel. I ended up on a Military Sealift Command (MSC) ship TAO-200, the USNS Guadeloupe. The Guadeloupe is owned by the department of defense but crewed by civilian mariner (CIVMARs) employed by MSC.
