Forward Void

This is the next space in the hull, the forward void. This room contains our bilge holding tank and the Oily Water Separator (OWS) and sludge tank are down stairs. These are only on the port side.

RCS space

This is the forward Ride Control System. Hydraulics for our RCS fins and bow deck machinery including bow ramp and mezzanine ramps.

Water Jet

We have four KaMeWa water jets which are our means of propulsion (instead of a propellor). We also have a SeaState T-Max Rudder on each side. In harbor, the vessel maneuvers by directing the jet nozzles, this makes the vessel very maneuverable. While underway the rudders are used an the ship behaves more like a regular ship but it gives us more ahead thrust since we're not losing ahead to keep the bow pointed in the right direction.

Car Deck

There are two containers for a deck and engine workshop and storage, a reefer container for cold supplies for the marines, and a container with their dry good supplies. We have the capacity to haul 125 HMMWV (Hummvees). We can carry any vehicle the Marines use except for the sea Knight (or king?) helicopter because it won't fit and an M1A1 Abrahms Main Battle Tank because the deck load is to great other than that, its all fair game.

ECDIS (Electronic Charting Display and Information System or something like that), Radar, Radios (talking & music ;-) lights, and engine controls all at the fingertips. The joystick on the chairs is for manual steering, the trackball on the arm can be used for the ECDIS or the Radars. Engine RPM, Gyro Heading, Rate of Turn Indicators and steering device pointing direction are located above the windows.

Bridge Layout

The navigation officer and AB sit in the front there and the engineering console is immediately behind them. This facilitates communication like, "Hey, you're about to come to a sudden stop." This layout also allows the engineers to be more aware of the traffic conditions, and sea state which affect how the plant runs and sometimes contribute to different alarms.

"Control Room"

The left side contains the fire alarm system, emergency shut-downs, and CO2 release for the engine spaces. This system replaces the "control room" in most other vessels. Now the engineers can see where we're going... muwahahaha

My Domain

The engineering console on the bridge. We are able to operate almost every piece of equipment and most valves from here. We have a very sophisticated monitering system that allows us to trend out different values to see their changes which allow us to monitor the plant better. The Middle has the computer at the heart of the system, the right side has CCTV monitors of the Main and Auxiliary engine spaces as well as the ramps. Also hidden by the chair is the control for all the hydraulic systems aboard including our SeaState Motion Control System which activlely smoothes the ride out.
